White vs. Yellow (Borututu) Shea Butter

The most frequent question we receive from our buyers is: what is the difference between white and yellow shea butter? Both start the same — as ivory-white, unrefined shea butter. But during the final stage of production, women in northern Ghana add borututu root and bark to the butter. The borututu tree (Cochlospermum angolense) grows wild in the deep forests and savannahs of Ghana.
